Book Study: The Universal Christ by Richard Rohr

Join co-facilitators Ana Cotton and Dana Hamilton in exploring Richard Rohr’s work The Universal Christ. “God loves things by becoming them,” Rohr writes, and Jesus’s life was meant to declare that humanity has never been separate from God—except by its own negative choice. When we recover this fundamental truth, faith becomes less about proving Jesus was God, and more about learning to recognize the Creator’s presence all around us, and in everyone we meet. Participants can purchase books from the office for $10 or from the book retailer of their choice. For this Sunday please read the Forward, the Before We Begin section, and chapters 1 & 2. Bible Study: The Old Testament 

Join The Rev. Reagan Gonzalez as we explore the foundational texts of our faith. This class will focus on three main areas of study: the background of the text (author, location, context), the text itself (plot, characters, scenery), and what the Holy Spirit is saying to us through the text today. Bring your questions and we’ll have great discussion about these sacred texts that Jesus grew up with and that we continue to try to make sense of for our own lives.
