Dia de los Muertos ofrenda
Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead in English), is a special tradition of Mexican, northern Central American, and Mexican American heritage that is celebrated on November 1 and 2.
This year, St. Luke’s will have an ofrenda (altar) set up in the North Parlor. Beginning on Sunday, October 23rd, we invite you to place a photo of a loved one who has died (5″x7″ maximum size), and if you wish, one item that reminds you of that person on the ofrenda.
This could be an item representing something they loved, or an item that reminds you of time you spent together. Please be sure the item is appropriate for a church and school setting. Refrain also from placing valuable items or food that might attract pests.
All of these decorations are ways to honor and celebrate our family and friends who we love, but see no longer. You will take your photos and items home after we celebrate All Saints Day on November 6th.
