Holy Week & Easter at St. Luke's

Join St. Luke’s this Easter season to mark the saving death and resurrection of Jesus. 

Palm Cross Workshop: Friday, March 22 at 9:00 am

  • 9:00 am – Join the St. Francis Guild and weave palm crosses for our Palm Sunday service. Come and go as you please between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. Coffee, water, and snacks will be available for this fun fellowship time together.

 

The Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday: Sunday, March 24

  • The Palm Sunday liturgy at all four services.

 

Holy Week: Monday-Wednesday, March 25-27

  • 5:30 pm – Holy Communion in the Christ the King Chapel.

 

Maundy Thursday: Thursday, March 28

  • 6:30 pm – An agape supper in the Parish Hall.
  • 7:30 pm – Maundy Thursday Liturgy with Stripping of the Altar.
  • 8:30 pm -Maundy Thursday Vigil:The Vigil will be in the Christ the King Chapel starting at 8:30 pm following the Maundy Thursday service, going through 8:00 am the morning of Good Friday.We have two spaces available per one-hour time slot, with the hope that at least one space is filled per hour. Good Friday: Friday, March 29

  • Noon – The Good Friday Liturgy in the church.
  • 7:00 pm – Fauré Requiem: Saint Luke’s Choir sings the Fauré Requiem, one of the most powerful expressions of beauty and reflection. Fauré had no intention of dwelling on grief and darkness; he wanted to express peace and solace in his requiem, and he does so with some of the most beautiful and memorable tunes. After the struggle of Good Friday we have a moment of calm to reflect on our journey through Passiontide.

 

Holy Saturday: Saturday, March 30

  • 7:30 pm – The Great Vigil of Easter in the church.

 

The Feast of the Resurrection: Easter Day: Sunday, March 31

  • 7:00 am – Holy Eucharist, Rite Two, in the Outdoor Columbarium.
  • 9:00 am – Choral Eucharist, Rite Two, with accompaniment.
  • 10:00 am – Flowering the Cross and breakfast tacos.
  • 10:30 am – Easter Egg Hunt on the South Lawn.
  • 11:00 am – Choral Eucharist, Rite Two, with accompaniment.
  • 6:00 pm – Holy Eucharist, Rite Two.

Easter Lily Dedications, due Monday, March 25

Sponsor a lily that will decorate the church this Easter for a donation of $20. They make beautiful memorials, thanksgiving offerings, honorariums, or celebrations of friends and family members. Your name and dedication will be printed in the Easter bulletins. Order online at www.slecsa.org/give or use an offering envelope available in the pews and place it in the offering plate. Afterward, fill out this form to submit your dedication information.
