What to Expect
Once again, there is no electronic bidding platform to navigate — our silent auction will be live and on paper, bringing back the joy of friendly competition with fellow parishioners. Dinner will be served promptly, and the evening will wrap up in time for everyone to get home at a reasonable hour. During Paddles Up, we are introducing more accessible giving levels so that everyone can participate, regardless of income. This is a night for everyone at St. Luke’s.
Your St. Luke’s Live Planning Committee includes Co-Chairs Carol McGanity and Anne Solsbery, and members Lisa Petrosky, Angie Hudgins, and Amy Foster. If you would like to get involved, reach out to any of us. No contribution is too small.
The Beneficiary
Amy & Ken Maverick – Maverick Distillery
Each year the St. Luke’s Church community comes together for our one fundraising & fellowship extravaganza that goes towards supporting the church’s ministries and an elected secondary beneficiary. In 2024, the designated secondary beneficiary, once the Church’s ministry needs are met, is the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas Immigration and Refugee ministries, which oversees Plaza de Paz. Their director, Flor Saldivar, will speak and members of our own youth group will share testimony about their summer mission experience with Plaza de Paz.
The Plaza de Paz Respite Center first opened on July 27, 2021 in response to the increase in migrant arrivals in San Antonio. Plaza de Paz provides day-time welcoming services for families and individuals seeking asylum. Services provided include meals, assistance with travel arrangements, personal hygiene care, emergency housing, and transportation within Bexar County to the airport or bus station.
