Durufle Requiem
Durufle Requiem, Good Friday. March 29, 7:00 PM
Saint Luke’s Choir sings the Duruflé Requiem, one of the most powerful expressions of beauty and grief. Maurice Duruflé takes Fauré’s Requiem as a model but uses the Roman plainsong themes from the Mass for the Dead. In doing so he creates an incredibly moving piece of choral literature. Music transcends itself to become sacrament. Scored for mezzo, baritone, cello, and organ.
